FACE À FACE, FRANCE ON FOOT — 90 minutes documentary

FACE À FACE, LA FRANCE À PIED
Documentaire 90 minutes

Project information

3,034 kilometers. 109 days. 138,000 meters of cumulative elevation gain. A crossing of France on foot, from north to south, east to west, following the Hexatrek — one of Europe's most demanding long-distance hiking trails. This 90-minute documentary tells the story of Nicolas Diamantara, aka Trek Attitude, an outdoor YouTuber who transformed this physical challenge into an inner quest. Centered on boldness and determination, the film explores his solitary journey, but also his self-reflection, turning each step into a moment of introspection and personal discovery.

We followed Nicolas for 40 days spread across his entire journey, all over France. Mountains, plains, through rain, through heatwaves — the challenge wasn't just physical for him, it was for us too. The unpredictable nature of his walking pace demanded flawless material and human organization. A mobile crew, meeting points adjusted in real time, logistics reimagined daily to capture the authenticity of a man alone facing the elements.

Nicolas self-filmed in the most inaccessible places, where our presence would have shattered the solitude necessary to his story. These raw images, captured in exhaustion and pure emotion, become the film's beating heart. They dialogue with our more contemplative shots, creating a two-voiced narrative: that of the adventurer in full effort, and that of the outside gaze bearing witness.

But Face à face isn't limited to the trail. The film also tells the story of his family, those waiting in the quiet of everyday life, who carry a heritage and a memory. This intimate dimension transforms the documentary into a universal story about self-transcendence, about what pushes us to leave and what makes us return. Extensive post-production work wove together these multiple perspectives, creating a narrative rhythm that mirrors the intensity and diversity of the adventure.

Face à face isn't just a travel journal — it's a manifesto on freedom, vulnerability, and the strength to keep going when the body screams to stop.
